Tom McBride, President/CEO

Tom McBride Tom McBride was born in Broken Bow, NE and after living in Norfolk, NE and in Iowa he graduated from high school in Shelton, NE where he calls “home.” After completing active duty with a tour in Vietnam he attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. He has also earned a Masters of Science degree in Health Care Administration. Tom was also activated for Operation Dessert Storm flying helicopter medical evacuations for the injured and wounded.  He retired from Active and National Guard duty in 1992.  After an 11-year career working in administrative positions in adult corrections for the State of Nebraska he took a position with Epworth Village. Tom has worked as Residential Manger in the Living Units, Evening Supervisor, Director of Community Relations and has been the President/CEO since 1993. Tom is in his fourth term as a member of the York Public Schools, Board of Education. He is currently a member of the Joint Commission Behavioral Health Advisory Committee for Children and Youth, President Elect of the National Association for Children’s Behavioral Health, current member and Past-Chairperson of the Nebraska State Advisory Board for Juvenile Justice and had been appointed by the Governor as the Nebraska representative to the Federal Advisory Committee for Juvenile Justice.  He is a member and Past President of the Children And Family Coalition Of Nebraska, member of the Children’s Behavioral Health Task Force, and member of the Behavioral Health Providers Council.

Tom refers to his 22 years at Epworth Village as some of the best years of his life. “I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to work with such a dedicated and professional staff as we have enjoyed here at Epworth Village.” Our program is indeed one of the premier programs available and dedicated to always getting better.

Tom and his wife Darcy have been married since 1970. She is a teacher in the York Public Schools and has always been active in a variety of programs for young people. They have three grown sons; Ben (Detective, Norfolk Police Dept.), and his wife Stephanie live in Norfolk, NE with their two children. Son, Thatcher (Public Relations Coordinator, Epworth Village), and son Eli (Special Agent, FBI) and his wife Mikki with their two children live in Lincoln, NE.   Tom and his wife love spending time with their Grandchildren, Cheyenne, Carson, Kynlee and Cali. They are active members in the community in many ways, and members of the First United Methodist Church. Besides spending time with family, Tom’s interests are reading and golf.
